I have opened the lid on the fabric that I have been collecting to make a new quilt. This one is for the dd. These funny abbreviations, lol. The kids and I have a running joke on these. They know alot more than I do, coz I’m not so hip, the only ones I really know are the ones mentioned.
I have been finding quite a few of these jars of late. They are Pyrex glass made in the USA. Handy although delicate.
Before

After

I am really fighting the urge to buy more fabric to add to this quilt. I am going to try and use what I have to finish it with plans for a seersucker tablecloth backing.
Updated pics as they come to hand.

Good times at the OS this week.
I have been a bit obsessed of late finding boat fabric and here it is. I knew it would be found eventually but I really didn’t want fifty years of dirt and I think nicotine embedded in it. A piece of old smelly fabric. Not every girl would be thrilled but its my thang.

And zips. I love zips with rings on the end. I hate sewing the mongrel things though. I don’t know why more people don’t buy zips from the op-shop, they range from only 20-50 cents in my area as compared to two dollars onwards in the not secondhand shops.

Needlepunch toolset. Still unopened. Hmmph. I’ll give it a try. Hope it’s not dodgy. If I do something really good I’ll put it on the blog, if it doesn’t go well it will still go on the blog.

The rules
* link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog
* share seven random and/or weird things about yourself
1. I am 40hundred years old and I still get pimples. Shits me to tears.
2. When I was seventeen I wanted to run away to Nimbin and be a hippie. I got as far as Sydney and still want to be a hippie. I think the closest I will ever get, is burning Nag Champa and dabbing on the odd touch of Patchouli oil.
3. I went to Delphi in 1990 and had an out of mind experience. I saw things that weren’t there. Things that hadn’t been there for two thousand years. I know the difference between using my imagination and what I know to be ‘real’. That falls into the weird category.
4. I think I am a good judge of character. Except for Woody Allen and Shirley McLaine. I thought they were OK, till he married his step daughter and she wrote about dogs that talk and truly believes it.
5. Touching my fork whilst putting food in my mouth is a big no no. Am I alone in this one ? Surely not.
6. I read mostly lifestyle/decorator magazines, autobiographies and self help books, hardly ever novels. I watch TV shows like Nanny 911,WifeSwap and ET. Nuff said.
7. I have hit lists of proprietors that I choose to no longer give my custom to. An example, Dominoes Pizza, because they never have discount vouchers to give out when you pay full price and when you try and explain this to them the next time, basically they say tough titties … to you I say! Another of the top of my head is Jamberoo Recreation Park. There slogan is ‘where you control the action’ Oh bloody contraire.
*tag seven random people at the end of your post and link to them and let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog
Gosh, who will I tag? I don’t know of anyone who hasn’t already been named. I’m a rebel rule breaker.
And one cannot have post without pictures.
Cardcraft. When is it going to make a comeback? Got this at a garage sale a couple of years ago. The woman didn’t know what she was parting with.

This is what Ive been doing today. Tidying up my two and half metres of space. I even chucked out stuff, sock monkeys that were never meant to be and pathetic little bits of fabric and ribbon that I am ashamed I hoarded like a bag lady.
The Mr. put up the hats racks. I had nowhere else to put them but high above, still serviceable though and I rearranged my ‘inspiration’ board. Feels a bit free-er.

In November last year whilst fluffing around on the computer one Saturday morning I came across …in my spare time. I started getting butterflies in my tummy as I read her entries about art and uni. I emailed Jan, something I don’t think I’ve ever done, to enquire about her course. She replied, which was kind and a kinda shock because I thought she might think I was some sort of wacko. So to cut along story short, I have enrolled in open university , to do arts. Eeek how exciting and nerve-racking.
As a remembrance of this momentous occasion I thought I would treat myself to a present and I bought one of her books. I have little secret remembrances scattered all around the house that I only know about.
I think I have received a bonus card too in the deal, thank-you. Of course it wont be used. It will be a secret remembrance too.

I am a sucker for black and white. I got these two pots/vases at a market on the weekend and the little tray at a garage sale last year. They are going to go in the bathroom as toothpaste, toothbrush and soap holders, as I can think of no other reason what to do with them, but I had to have them.

I wore this skirt to work today. I finished it on Boxing Day and it was sitting in my to do basket since September 07. Can’t rush these things ’spose. I know its just one skirt but it weighs on my mind when I don’t complete things, even more so when a new year starts.

And of course where there is one, there are others, like rats, which we had omg over the last few months but now I pray they have gone.
I started this journal thing when I first discovered blogs, about 2 and a bit years ago. Its from The Wish Jar. I did a few pages of it then stashed it away, pfff, but got it out again this morning. I’m aiming to finish to my level of satisfaction. I reprinted the 100 daily ideas again today and I am off and running.
Oh crap this photo thing - thanks Jodie for doing the reconnaissance . I can see pictures can anyone else?

Bags. I really want to start selling them. I am considering a few options. I found this curtain material last week and am amazed I didn’t stash it away and I actually made something. I have been (craft) paralyzed of late.
I used the method from Bend the Rules to do the bias binding and it worked out well but will be better the next time.

Do these photos still look too big? Anyone?

Following Jodie’s lead, or should I say lagging behind her great efforts are some of my 2007 crafts.
What else does one do on a Saturday night when one is a woman of a certain age.

This booklet is from 1968. It smells to high heaven, but it has good pictures and ideas.

A mobile. It requires basket reed soaked in water to make it. I may have to keep my eye out for that.
