my hapinessess

October 14, 2008

Claire tagged me quite a while ago about 5 things that make you happy. In no particular order -

Listening to Burt Bacharach. The man is a genius. I Say a Little Prayer would have to be in my top 5 fave songs of all time.
Watching Project Runway with my son and daughter. We all get into it and have a laugh. The Australian version was the best I reckon. The contestants were real characters and not at all bitchy bitchy like the US version.
Playing punch buggy with the kids. You know when you see Volkswagen you scream punch buggy yellow or whatever colour and punch the person closest to you. When I am in the car alone and realise there’s no one there I go ooohhh and get all sad (about being happy).
Fabric buying and salvaging fabric. My latest are the two below. One was found in Adelaide just sitting there, the other 3 panels of curtain love.
Being by myself. I like my own company and enjoy going out with myself like to art galleries and the sort. Sounds a bit strange (I am a bit) but it makes me happy.

Edit - it was 6 things that make you happy - doh. I’ll leave that one for another day

From 1988 archives a painted picture. I enlarged it by the old graph method from a postage stamp size picture in a magazine. I still have the paints that I did it with and actually used them again the other night. Fine brushwork if I do say so myself. Do not adjust your eyes, there is a huge white gap here and please excuse the 4 people on bloglines who have read this post three times already as I keep changing it.

From the archives this week is this from around 1983-85.
Before ipods there were tapes. I would borrow records from friends, tape and then decorate the covers either in a collage format or copy the same artwork. I was young and obviously had nothing better to do with my time. Ha!
These are some of the ones that have not deteriorated and now destined for the O.S

What happened there? I think I have been in some parallel universe and missed a month on earth.
Doing a bit of art in inverted commas. I’m really going to have to get stuck into it this weekend being Easter. This may look like a child’s drawing. That’s because it is. I copied it from my daughter who drew it when she was about 5. I needed something simple to begin the printing process. Something I loved.

pfff...art

The following two pictures are from a book called The General from 1961. Got it at the opshop for 50c. Real groovy baby illustrations.

It came at an opportune moment though. I have spoken a couple of times about the Mr. here on the blog. He is aka Mark. I have renamed him. He is now going to be referred to as The Little General (TLG).
Earlier this week we waved him goodbye as he joined the Army. Initially for three months training, after that who knows. So this book is a reminder to me of this time. The story is quite apt too. Smelling the roses type of thing. Good stuff.

friendship is a gift of the heart

Claire tagged me  and although I agree that talking about oneself can be quite entertaining I have come to the conclusion that this is my last 7 things thing as quite frankly I am a boring old fart. So here are my last  7 random / quirky things.

  1. My 2ND big toe bigger than first.
  2. I look for money when I am walking down the street. I find it sometimes. Thus it has unfortunately led to me to acquire a hump on my back ala Quasimodo.
  3. I have mentioned this before. I rate food. 1/10 for crap 10/10 for delectable delicious delightful. The higher the score the more verbs.
  4. My favorite word is friggin. And so it goes that it has become my children’s favorite word.
  5. I also like the word Droog and long to use it in a casual conversation.
  6. I like the phrase ‘Ugly as a hatfull of arse holes’. I have never used it in public though.
  7. I am prone to exaggeration and high drama.

This xstich really has nothing to do with anything. Found it in the op shop a couple of weeks ago of which my house is starting to resemble.
